Project title: TAiwaN Dutch sEed Money (TANDEM) – For autonomous greenhouse and low carbon food production
Project number:
SMP-24014
Requesting country: Taiwan
Year: 2024
Budget: € 40,000
Project leader: Rick van de Zedde
Knowledge institute: Wageningen University & Research
Project partners: Polariks

Summary

The objective of the TANDEM project is to explore the possibility for future R&D projects with Dutch and Taiwanese partners (public and private) on the subject related to autonomous greenhouse for low-carbon food production in Taiwan, in alignment with Taiwan’s ambition to achieve its climate-neutrality goal by 2050. The aims of TANDEM are:

  1. To leverage on the momentum that has been created by WUR with the TANDEM consortium to create international research cooperation with the Dutch and Taiwanese industry by jointly pursuing the funding opportunities in 2024 mentioned in the previous section,
  2. To investigate the extent to which the Dutch knowledge and high-tech innovations can be applied in the Taiwanese horticulture sector, and to identify what has to be done to make this happen (i.e. research, promotion, demonstration, etc). We will set up a consortium of several Dutch technology suppliers supported by WUR to interact with Taiwanese partners. We will then translate Dutch solutions, based on existing autonomous greenhouse technologies, specifically for the Taiwanese greenhouse horticulture sector.
