The objective of the SMP is to explore opportunities to reduce the usage (amount and type) of agrochemicals, to stimulate safe and correct application of agrochemicals (in order to protect health, the environment and result in cost reduction on inputs), and to stimulate the use of alternative products in the ornamental supply chain. The exploration will start with a lilium supply chain, but can be extended/adjusted with other horticultural products.

The focus will be on introduction of alternative sustainable solutions, awareness (cultural change) and knowledge exchange. Also the possibilities for an introduction of a “local GAP certification” will be explored. This will improve both the human safety of workers as well as the environmental impact of this supply chain and other horticultural supply chains.
